Ford Confronts Corker at Press Conference

I am not a huge fan of Harold Ford Jr, as I've detailed on other threads. He is far from being the Golden God that so many outside his district seem to believe him to be. But the more I see of Corker, the more I resolve to vote for Ford (not that I'd
ever vote for a Republican, mind you).
Today, Ford showed up at Corker's press conference. The press conference was meant to employ the only campaign strategy Corker has left, attack Ford's family. The Ford family definitely has problems. They may be the only real reason Harold Ford isn't far ahead in the polls, and as long as Harold's younger brother Jake continues to spectacularly and publicly torpedo his own campaign for the 9th district seat ( LINK, LINK, LINK), the family business will remain in the spotlight.
Harold Ford Jr. showed up at Bob Corker's press conference today, an attempt to upstage Corker's sanctimonius attacks on the Ford family, and to force Corker to discuss something that is actally important, Iraq. I certainly hope that Corker's most recent attack ad wasn't the main reason Ford felt the need to show up. Because it has to be
just about the lamest attack ad I've ever seen.
Ford's appearance at the press conference was unexpected, and let do a snippish exchange.
"Mr. Corker, what do you think about this Iraq thing? I know you are here to talk about my family, I thought you made a promise..."
"No, no, no, I'm here to talk about you, and I'm going to do that right now, as a matter of fact this is my press conference not yours."
Etc...

Corker's press conference comes at a time when the polls are dead even. I have no idea if this stunt will help or hurt Ford. But as I see it, it wasn't necessary. Corker's attacks on Ford's family just make him look desperate.
I suppose Corker has used any real ammo already, and I imagine that he has his people digging and digging to find any dirt on Harold Ford himself. Still, dead even polls are bad for Democrats. Parts, if not all of Tennessee votes on Diebold.
